Class Update - Spring 2

Beech class have been working incredibly hard this term as we have explored our new learning theme: Darwin’s Delights.

In English, we wrote biographies about Charles Darwin and his adventures on the Galapagos Islands; we then chose to write a biography about someone who inspires us.

In Geography and science, we have mapped Charles’ route around the islands and have been looking at animals that can be found on the islands and how they have adapted to their environment. We created our own cartoons characters based on animals from the island and used the ChatterPix App to share interesting facts about the islands.

In our maths work, we have been focusing on geometry. We have been drawing and calculating angles, calculating the radius and diameter of circles, and drawing and describing 2D shapes. This website is great for revising the terminology for this area of the curriculum:

Last week, we visited the British Wildlife Centre, and we had a brilliant day! The children were fantastic, and the centre staff commented on how enthusiastic and knowledgeable they were. We got to see lots of wildlife and learn about how they were suited to their environment. We were so impressed with some of the photographs that the children managed to capture too!

We thank you again for your continued support,
