Class Update - Summer 2

We have had a brilliant half term in Beech class. We started off with our Enterprise Project which saw the children planning stalls to raise funds for their chosen charity. In maths, they looked at how to calculate projected profit and loss as well as shopping around to find the best value. The children carried out market research, designed promotional materials and put together their stalls. Finally, they ran them, and we were all so impressed with the courage that they showed.

In English, we have been writing balanced arguments and reports around the Titanic. The children have looked at artefacts and recounts and carried out research. We focused on using formal language along with a range of punctuation to control our writing.

Last week, we headed to Runway’s End in Aldershot for our 3-day residential. The weather was very unkind but the resilience that the children showed was incredible; even the centre staff commented on how impressed they were! We took part in lots of activities including raft building, kayaking, archery and climbing. We look forward to sharing some more photos with you very soon.

Our final week will see us putting together our Leaver’s Assembly ready to share with you on Friday 19th July. The children have chosen to share some of their favourite memories from their time at St Lawrence.

We hope that you and the children have a restful summer and that the children have a good transition to secondary school. They should be so proud of everything that they have achieved this year and we know that next year they will continue to build on their successes.

Thank you for your continued support,

The Year 6 Team.
