Class Update - Autumn 1
The first term has flown by in Beech Class. It has been lovely to watch the children embrace their transition to Year 6 and the extra responsibilities that come with this, including supporting our youngest learners and leading our prospective parent tours.
In our maths lessons, we have learned the standard/formal methods for long multiplication and long division and have really developed in confidence. We have also developed our fractions knowledge by simplifying and comparing them. The children have their Times Table Rockstars logins in their diaries and we would recommend that they practise weekly.
In English, we have been reading Holes by Louis Sachar and have used the text to inspire our writing journeys from diary entries to non-chronological reports.
Science has seen us learning about the circulatory system and the function of the heart, lungs and blood within it. We have looked at the impact of exercise on the system and conducted our own investigations around heart rate.
After the October break, we are looking forward to our Bikeability sessions and we will continue to develop our fractions knowledge in maths.
We hope that you all have a restful two weeks, and we look forward to seeing you in November.
